DO struck off at review

Fitness to practice

Dispensing optician Elaine Warren has been erased from General Optical Council registers after a fitness to practise substantive review committee ruled she had not engaged with committee recommendations while suspended.

Warren was given a 12-month suspension in November 2012 after it was alleged that she manipulated a payment record and made false payment entries.

At the time the committee said it would look for evidence that the registrant had appreciated the gravity of the offence and maintained skills and knowledge.

At last week’s review hearing, the committee said Warren had not undertaken any CET or submitted any evidence as to her current employment. It said the only correspondence it had received was a letter from the registrant which stated she had been offered a position outside of the profession.
