Student DO struck off

Student dispensing optician Andrew Davies has been erased from GOC registers after a fitness to practise committee ruled he was guilty of misconduct and his fitness to undertake training was impaired.

Davies, who had been suspended on an interim order previously, received police cautions in 2007 for possession of cannabis and in 2008 for possession of amphetamines. In 2011, he was convicted of criminal damage to a property and driving a motor vehicle with alcohol levels above the legal limit.

The committee heard that on four occasions Davies failed to declare cautions in applications for retention and said he chose to dispute the allegations of dishonesty and showed no remorse into his actions.
