This weekend marks the deadline for the 2006 Optician Awards but there is still time to get your entry in.

There are 10 categories up for grabs covering every aspect of retail optics and practice life today. This year also marks for the first time categories for the Charity Campaign of the Year sponsored by The Outside Clinic, Healthy Sight Practice of the Year sponsored by Transitions and Specsavers returns as a sponsor for the Community Involvement Award.

A new sponsor, BBGR, is backing the Outstanding Dispensing Optician of the Year Award and Dollond & Aitchison returns as sponsor of the Contribution to CET Award.

Johnson & Johnson is sponsoring the Contact Lens Practice of the Year and Grafton Optical and Relcon the Technology Practice of the Year Award.

There are three other categories: The Independent Fightback Award, Optical Product of the Year and Large High Street Multiple Practice of the Year.

This year's Awards presentation will be at a gala black tie dinner, in London on the evening of April 25. The night will feature a guest presenter, entertainment, dancing and a charity casino.
