Over 100 independent practitioners will take advantage of a new, dedicated CET event which also boasts a package of discounts and free items worth more than £2,000.

Independents have just over a week to book for the inaugural 'Independents Day', the one-day CET symposium meeting on July 4 which aims to unite both clinical and commercial themes into a single event.

Organiser Proven Track Record (PTR) has told optician that the number of delegates attracted to the Birmingham meeting has now exceeded three figures, although more spaces at the National Motorcycle Museum are still available.

As well as free contact lenses and solutions, and free patient educational software, delegates have the opportunity to gain six CET credits and will receive a copy of a limited edition CE-Rom -  care of 'title sponsor' Bausch & Lomb - providing an additional two points.

PTR co-director Nick Atkins said: 'I'm very happy that we have achieved our goal of 100 attending practitioners and pleased about the high level of awareness and interest in PTR's first major event.

'I've long been a supporter of the independent sector and this reconfirms to me that not only is there a market for combining the commercial application of clinical learning, but also there is a solid base of practitioners who are positive and proactive about their future.'

PTR launched the event in March (News, March 25), and the remaining tickets cost £129 plus VAT.
