The Macular Disease Society (MDS) is allocating £140,000 in grants for sight loss projects starting next September under its 2012 research programme.
It welcomes applications from academics, clinicians or research teams attached to recognised academic or medical institutions, who are carrying out clinical or laboratory-based research projects aimed at improving the treatment or quality of life of patients with macular disease.
MDS chief executive Helen Jackman said: 'We are committed to research into a cure for macular disease and improving treatments and services today. Research is hugely important to our membership and it is thanks to their donations that we have been able to fund £1.5m into projects during the last 10 years.'
