New roles at the institute

The Institute of Optometry has made two new internal appointments following a review of its administration and management structure.

Lynne Weddell, a lecturer in general optometry, has been made tutor to pre-registration optometrists, with responsibility for monitoring their training and progress. She will act as a focal point for help and advice, and liaise with supervisors. Ms Weddell has a broad range of experience in optometry. She teaches at the institute, and is a PQE examiner. Anita Lightstone, a senior lecturer in specific learning difficulties, will take over responsibility for the institute's binocular vision and paediatric clinics. She hopes to develop these areas further, and to provide more job opportunities for non-institute based optometrists at the clinics.
