OO Niall O’Kane wins eye health award

An optometrist is a joint winner of the 2014 Novartis and Alcon Awards for Allied Healthcare Professional’s projects in Eye-Health.

Niall O’Kane was announced as one of the two winners on Saturday in recognition of his efforts in developing a community based pre- and post-treatment scheme linked with hospital eye services for patients with wet AMD in Kent.

The award was presented by ophthalmologist Robin Hamilton at the Excellence in Ophthalmology conference held in Birmingham on Saturday where representatives from a wide range of eye care professions gathered to look at the development of primary and secondary care management schemes for eye disease.
