Optician editor tackles half Ironman distance triathlon to raise cash for Blind Veterans UK

Optician editor Chris Bennett is competing in the Fambridge Yacht Haven Half Iron Triathlon to raise money for Blind Veterans UK.

The event will see Bennett swim 1.9km in the tidal waters of the river Crouch, cycle 90km around the Essex coast before running 18km around the lanes and trails of the Dengie peninsula.

Blind Veterans UK, which is celebrating its centenary this year, provides help for those who serve, or served at any time in the past, in the armed forces. It works with optometrists to provide care to ex-servicestaff through its No One Alone Campaign.
