Dr Cindy Tromans has received an award for outstanding contribution to hospital optometry. Dr Tromans, president of the College of Optometrists, was presented with the award at the Hospital Optometrists Annual Conference earlier this month. She has recently chaired two working groups with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists the Joint Group on NICE Glaucoma Guideline and the Joint Working Group on Commissioning.
The all-party parliamentary group (APPG) on Eye Health and Visual Impairment has scheduled an afternoon meeting for December 1, to be attended by Earl Howe, parliamentary under secretary of state for the Department of Health. Proposed changes to the NHS will be discussed, announced the College, with public health indicators and calls for an eye health indicator on the agenda. 'We are delighted that Earl Howe is keen to meet with us, his presence is central to our discussions,' a College spokesperson added.
