Local optical committees in London and the Midlands & East areas have been invited to nominate two new directors to represent the regions on the LOCSU board. The board has previously been made up of three representatives, from the North of England, South of England and Wales, but LOCSU said Optometry Wales was now providing support for regional optical committees in the country and this meant its board would now include the four English LOC representatives only.

BBR Optometry has invested in a new backup system for its retinal images and data. The Hereford-based practice has installed software from IT firm 24/7 Uptime called Replicate Retina. BBR Optometry managing director Nick Rumney said: 'I have been an IT hungry optometrist for years, whether it be clinical records, imaging or straightforward business reporting but there has always been a nagging doubt about backup and, even if that is established, restoration of data.'
