Good weather in 2010 should release pent up demand in the sunglass market caused by consumers having delayed purchases due to poor weather and the recession, according to the new European Sunglass Association (ESA) president, Francesco Pellegrini.
Outlining the challenges facing the Association during his presidency, Pellegrini said the European sunglass market was in recession, but added that this meant the ESA must be even more effective in promoting the protective values and quality of sunglasses.
Speaking about his intentions as president, he told Optician: 'I'm honoured to be elected as the new ESA president. This is an important role for me and I look forward to fulfilling it and leading the organisation in focusing on its primary mission, protecting the eyes with quality sunglasses.
