An independent practice in Norwich has raised over 1,000 in memory of a colleague who was killed in a road accident last year.
Nikki Platten, 47, the receptionist at DR Grays Opticians, died after being hit by a car which mounted the pavement while she was out shopping.
Around 700 was raised during a collection for Fight for Sight at her funeral. Since she died, colleagues have kept the optical charity's collection box on the counter by her photo and have raised over 300 more.
Dispensing optician at the practice, Sue Hughes, said: 'It was such a huge shock when Nikki died. She was vivacious, lively, fun, full of life and had time for everyone. Loads of people considered her their best friend and her funeral was packed. We all miss her deeply.'
