Specsavers said this week that it is on track to be operating throughout Australia by the end of next year
This announcement follows the acquisition of two Australian optical chains by the company in Victoria and South Australia, adding 40 new practices to the Specsavers network. These will be rebranded and made available to optometrists as a franchise.
Specsavers' managing director, Doug Perkins, said: 'These two investments follow on from Specsavers' entry as a wholesaler to the Australian optical market in January of this year. While we initially intended to operate solely as a supplier of high quality lenses and frames in Australia, independent optometrists were quick to call on Specsavers for a fuller suite of support services, which has accelerated our franchising plans.'
