Spring timefor ECOO in the capital

London will play host to the developers of the European Diploma when the European Council of Optometry and Optics (ECOO) meets for its General Assembly from May 15-16.

Potential changes to the Diploma could mean it moves from a centrally-organised examination to one accredited at various schools throughout Europe in a move to improve competencies across the continent. Last month it was confirmed that the next clinical exam for the Diploma would take place from June 4-6 in Cologne.
ECOO, a confederation of professional optical bodies from 23 European countries, will hold a dinner at the House of Commons on May 15. There will also be a special lunch on May 17 at the Mansion House to celebrate the 375th anniversary of the grant of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers' Charter.
Three continental optical bodies are organising a major CET gathering in Germany. The first European Vision Event will take place from October 2-4 in Oberhausen, with Brien Holden and Jan Bergmanson among the international speakers. The European Chapter (Continental) of the AAO, the Dutch Optometristen Vereniging Nederland (OVN) and the German Vereinigung Deutscher Contactlinsenspezialisten (VDC) have organised the event.
