Updated glaucoma patient standards released

New glaucoma patient standards have been launched

New glaucoma patient standards have been launched by the International Glaucoma Association (IGA), UK Ophthalmology Alliance (UKOA) and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

The standards will include information on co-ordinated care pathways, understanding and supporting patients, shared decision making, and active participation of patients in care.

IGA’s chief executive Karen Osborn said: ‘This document has the potential to make a real difference to patients’ experiences. We often receive queries from patients wanting more support with their eye drops, or who are concerned about why they are not being seen at the hospital. These standards will help make sure all patients get the support and information they need to protect their vision.’
