It's not very often that Optician gets the chance to go to some of those high profile bashes that everyone assumes journalists spent their whole time at. Last night was an exception as two of the Optician team joined CooperVision at the Breast Cancer Care Show as part of Cooper's support for the breast cancer charity's work. It was a fantastic night which centered around a catwalk show featuring breast cancer sufferers. CooperVision could not have chosen a better charity to support. Among the celebs on show were Geri haliwell who squeezed in next to the CooperViison table to sing libe to one of the high rollers bidding in the charity aution. Others included David Walliams, Lisa Snowdon, Denise Lewis and Katherine Jenkins. There was also plenty of glamour on the press table with the fine-framed femmes of the women's consumer mags. Interestingly the issue of contact lens and specs came up and I was reliably informed by one of my table guests that she has avoided contact lenses and specs because she didn't want her eyesight to get worse. Once you start apparently, you can't stop, and if you wear glasses and contact lenses it makes your eyesight get really bad. Somewhat frightening when you think that these women command the editorial content of the country leading consumer mags. Let's hope CooperVision and its new PR push can educate the consumer hacks in the ways of optics .
